Ian and Alan Lea successfully passed their instructor qualification following an assessment on 16th March. The process involved them developing their knowledge of a number of areas fundamental to good practice including: safe training; teaching skills; the law; dealing with emergencies; teaching children etc. The practical involved them being observed teaching a karate session.
The club now boasts three qualified coaches in addition to the senior club instructor, as Kerry Lee qualified in September last year.
All black belts at the club are encouraged to undertake the instructor programme whether or not they wish to do any teaching now or in the future. Black belts under 18yrs of age may qualify as trainee instructors enabling them to assist in the instruction at the club.
