Three kyu grades; four first dans; two second dans: a healthy turnout for 7.00am!
In order to make the session work sensibly given the make-up of the class, we studied five katas: Heian Yondan; Heian Godan; Enpi; Hangetsu; and Gojushiho Dai. Obviously, not everyone studied every kata!
The kyu grades worked on Heian Yondan and Heian Godan; the first dans worked on Enpi and Hangetsu; and the second dans worked on Enpi and Gojushiho Dai. In this way the study was specific to the ‘needs’ of the different grades. In actual fact Gojushiho Dai isn’t ‘required’ knowledge until grading for 4th dan but I thought Alan and Josh deserved a treat!
The nine “early birds” were: Jonathan Osborne; Paul Osborne; Frank Dennis; Audrius Mikalauskas; Kerry Lee; Tom Ludlow; Martyn Collard; Josh Ludlow; Alan Lea.
