Rory began proceedings for me with a warm up and some basics involving blocking and punching. Using the same techniques we then practised in groups of three. Two attackers; one defender. The defender was required to move out of the line of the attack and block and counter in the prescribed fashion. The junior lower grades found this particularly challenging, but when we later moved onto the more linear sanbon kumite they found it so much easier. The juniors worked on this basic kumite form as required for their grading, whilst the seniors worked on a more advanced kumite drill involving combination attacks and counter kicking with the lead leg.
8 members trained in the session: Sam; James Gordon; Jonathan Cobb; George Coates; Becky Cassapi; Steve Cassapi; Jack Robson; Rory Cave.
