Whilst the junior lower grades refined their understanding of basic gohon kumite, the adults and higher grades worked on a punching exercise designed to develop a deeper understanding of distancing. Four punches were used: gyaku tsuki; kora tsuki; oizuki; double step gyacku tsuki. In actual fact it could be argued that one punch was used: a straight punch, combined with a variety of steps and body positions. In any event the exercise demonstrated the range of the particular techniques and culminated in vigorous jiue ippon kumite.
In kata practise, the lower grades worked on Kihon, Heian Shodan and/or Heian Nidan. The higher grades worked on Enpi.
10 members trained in the session: Luke Cobb; Jonathan Cobb; James Gordon; George Coates; Jonathan Osborne; Paul Osborne; Anthony Mills; Ryan Skilton; Rachel Tyler; Gareth Thomas
