I looked down the line and saw a group of spirited adult karate-ka putting 100% effort into the class. Actually two were juniors but they trained with the same determined attitude as the adults in any event.
A lot of the work we did was driven by the imminent dan grading this weekend – a challenge being undertaken by three of our number: Kerry, Gobe and Ryan. We highlighted several points which emerged during the session: body alignment and positioning; optimum distancing; ‘telegraphing’ kicks – to name but three! We also looked at Jion kata (by special request) considering matters of timing and technical detail which we polished.
A significant amount was achieved in the 60 short minutes of the session, which, as usual, flew by!
14 members trained in the session: Izzy Ponsonby; Jonathan Osborne; Paul Osborne; Bob Dainty; Becky Cassapi; Steve Cassapi; Oliver Wood; Ryan Skilton; Darren Cockburn; Audrius Mickalauskas; Kerry Lee; Gobe Hobona; Charlotte Bonardi; Myles Ponsonby.
