The KUGB achieved enormous success at the ESKA European Shotokan Karate Championship held over 27th – 29th November. The event took place in Wels, Austria and was exceptionally well run by the organisers who had sponsorship from the Austrian Ministry of Sports. It was a terrifically exciting action packed tournament.
English competitors excelled in a number of the categories achieving medal placings, but perhaps the most notable achievement was the gold won by the KUGB England team in the senior male team kumite. Amazingly this wonderful achievement was matched by the junior men’s team who also struck gold!
What is particularly remarkable about this double success is that both teams have now won and retained the European and the World titles in consecutive championships!
Unprecedented!
