At the conclusion of the training session which preceded our club grading on Friday evening something most unusual happened: Sensei Brennan asked the whole cohort to remain whilst several of the club’s seniors busied themselves mysteriously. Myles Ponsonby then addressed the dojo!
Myles delivered a lovely speech in which he spoke about the 25 year history of the club and complimented me on my stewardship of the SNSKC over the years. It was the most wonderful surprise. On behalf of the club Sensei Brennan then presented me with a framed silk black belt embroidered at both ends on a mount bearing the signatures of numerous club members and senior karate-ka. It is a unique and very special gift indeed.
I would like to thank all members of the club who were involved in organising this event. The logistics and planning had the precision of a military operation and the whole thing took me by complete surprise!
It was totally unexpected and I was very touched by your thoughtfulness.
