Club Grading 5th March 2010

The Holme Pierrepont dojo was full of karate-ka on Friday evening for the club’s first grading of 2010 with Sensei Frank Brennan 7th dan. The training session was an intense hour of non-stop action which was carefully crafted to challenge everyone irrespective of grade. The lower grades were drilled in the syllabus for their particular rank, whilst the higher grades tackled some advanced combinations incorporating elbow and knife hand strikes.
The red belts in action!

The grading itself was a real success.  Everyone seemed to ‘rise to the occasion’. It was fantastic. The white belts who were grading for the first time didn’t put a foot wrong and all came away with their orange belts. The more experienced kyu grades ‘who know the ropes’ gave 100% and several received that special “good attitude” endorsement from Sensei Brennan at the end!

The following club members were promoted to their next coloured belt:

Orange belt: Michael Banner; Annabel Straw; Alec Purcell; Gregor Purcell; Luke Roberts.

Yellow belt: Jon Straw; William Cranton.

Green belt: Henry Straw.

Purple belt: Andy Wilkinson.

Purple & white belt: Willy Astley.

Brown belt: Izzy Ponsonby.

Brown & white belt: Frank Dennis; George Coates; Jonathan Osborne; Paul Osborne.

Well done to one and all!
