Oliver Wood and Becky Cassapi have become the two latest members of the club to achieve black belt level.
Interestingly, Oliver was one of the ‘originals’ who joined the club when it was established a quarter of a century ago in 1985, but he had a break from karate training when he went off to university to study law, establish a career and settle down into family life! His very welcome return to the club a few years ago enabled him to deal with unfinished business; he started from where he left off and progressed quickly up the ranks to black belt.

Becky achieved her black belt at the Karate Summer School held last week at Lancaster University. She trained intensively under the tutelage of the KUGB’s top instructors up to three times a day and by the grading on the Friday morning she was raring to go! Becky was supported by several club members including her dad Steve who achieved his black belt at the same course exactly 12 months ago!
