How do I start?

Step 1: Get in touch

Getting involved in karate and joining the club is easy – the hardest thing is getting in touch!

Step 2: Try a class

You will be invited to come along to try a session which will be free of charge. You don’t need any special equipment, just turn up in suitable clothing full of enthusiasm!

Step 3: Join the club

It’s absolutely free for beginners. Simply complete the online membership application form below:

Step 4: Join the Karate Union of Great Britain

The club’s insurance covers you for three sessions so by your fourth class you should apply for a karate licence from the KUGB. The licence provides you with insurance for 12 months and allows you access to gradings, competitions and other events. This can be done quickly and easily online at:

Step 5: Obtain a Karate Suit

The only thing you now need is a plain white karate suit (called a karate gi). A karate suit for a child beginner can be obtained widely online for as little as £15. The link below is to the Kamae standard gi which is suitable for adult beginners who may wish to pay a little more for a good quality entry level karate suit.

Now just keep training regularly. Enjoy the process of learning new skills through all your hard work and becoming a better person in the process!
